Hughes Syndrome Awareness Week 2008

This year the Hughes Syndrome Awareness Week will be taking place from 7th -13th September.

Sponsored walk

We will be kicking off Awareness Week with our annual London bridges sponsored walk and hope you can join us.

Our walk starts at 11.00am on Sunday 7th September 2008, where we will meet outside Tower Hill tube station - the first bridge to cross is Tower Bridge and we then make our way to Westminster Bridge, crossing five other bridges in between. We will provide you with interesting "bridge facts" before you start and you'll also get to see many famous London landmarks on your way round.

The walk usually covers approximately 4KM and takes about one and a half hours, depending on your own walking pace - your family, friends, children and pets are all very welcome.

All participants will receive a special edition Hughes Syndrome Foundation baseball cap kindly donated by New Era Caps.

There will be refreshments provided at the end of the walk when you finish at St Thomas' Hospital on the south end of Westminster Bridge and all our walkers will be awarded a certificate.

We do hope you can join us and help our small charity raise the much-needed funds for support and research into Hughes Syndrome.

If you would like to register for the walk, please click here, print out and return the form to us.

Patients Forum

On Wednesday 10th September 2008 from 2pm - 5pm we will be holding a Patients' Forum here at St Thomas' Hospital.

This meeting gives patients the opportunity to hear Professor Hughes and the APS team at St Thomas' speak about specific aspects of the condition including the brain, pregnancy and INR monitoring. There will be time set aside for patients questions.

It also provides an informal atmosphere where patients can meet one another as we should be having a buffet lunch beforehand for those who want to mingle.

If you would like to come along to the Patients' Forum, please click here, print out and return the form to us.
